Notebook Alert! - ASI Model S62EP

Problem:

OS: Windows XP

S62EP is having a yellow flag TPM issue in device manager.  Try to install the Infineon TPM driver from the CD driver disc but it refuses to accept the driver and there are no option from the BIOS to disable TPM.

Solution:

1. Update the BIOS to 0601 then boot to BIOS setup screen and go to Main => System Information => verify the BIOS is 0601 (date: 01/10/08)

2. Go to Exit and select Load Setup Defaults.

3. Go to Advanced => Onboard Devices Configuration => Configure SATA as IDE (for XP) or ACHI (for Vista).

4. Go to Boot and change the boot sequence:  1st boot = CDROM , 2nd boot = HDD, 3rd boot = Removable Dev.

5. Insert the Windows CD disc into the CDROM drive.

6. Save and Exit the BIOS.

7. Boot boot from the CDROM drive and install Windows as normal.  Be sure to delete the previous partition and create a new partition.

8. After Windows finished installing. Insert the CD driver disc into the CDROM drive and use the "InstALL - Drivers Installation Wizard" to install the drivers and utilities.
