Installing Windows XP on a HLB2, HL9x, and HT01 Notebook
|
|
HLB2, HL9x, and
HT01 XP
Installation Guide:
1. By
default, AHCI is enabled in the BIOS and there is no option to
change it. You will need to disable AHCI first in order to install
the Windows XP OS. To disable AHCI, you will need BIOS 1.03 or higher
for HL90, HL91, and HT01 to work
with the Compal AHCI utility tool. HLB2 does not need
BIOS update to work with Compal AHCI utility tool.
2.
Download the
AHCI-Tool.zip and
save it to the desktop. Unzip the file, open the file, and
follow the Instructions.txt file.
3.
If AHCI is disable successfully, you will
see a message indicating AHCI was disabled successfully. Next,
reboot and insert the Windows XP installation disc to the optical
drive. Press F12 during reboot and select boot from optical drive to
install Windows XP as normal.
4.
Its unfortunate that manufacture does not include XP drivers on the
bundle DVD drivers disc. Therefore, you will need to download XP drivers here:
HLB2,
HL90T,
HL91,
and
HT01
5. OPTIONAL: Patching Windows XP AHCI driver to an existing Windows XP (Pro or Home) with out having to re-install Windows XP |
