1.  Go to Intel's download center and download the latest version of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager for your OS.

• Keep this file as you will need it in step 6.

2.  Download ich8m_ahci_xp_drv_patch.zip and ich8m IaStor.sys (Intel Mobile 965P/GM) or ich9m_ahci_xp_drv_patch.zip and ich9m IaStor.sys (Intel Mobile 45 Express) to the Desktop.

• Copy the file “IaStor.sys” from the Desktop and paste to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\

• Unzip the patch and double click the "ichXm_ahci_xp_drv_patch.reg" to add the entry into registry

3.  Reboot the computer and press F2 during initial boot to enter the BIOS. (DO NOT allow it to start Windows yet)

4.  Configure the BIOS setting for AHCI:

          1.  Navigate to the Advanced and choose Onboard Devices Configuration

          2. Change Configure SATA as AHCI

          3. Press F10 and Save and Exit the BIOS.

5.  Boot into Windows

6.  When Windows load, it will detect a new hard disk - cancel the wizard for installing the new hardware and install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver installer you downloaded in step 1.
