Problem: 
OS: Windows XP

Can not install Windows XP due to a hard drive not found error.
 
Solutions:
FT00, FT01, FT02, FL90, FL91, and FL92

By default the BIOS on the FT00, FT01, FT02, FL90, FL91, and FL92 notebook models have the AHCI set to "Enabled". This needs to be set to "Disabled" in order to have the hard drive detected during the Windows XP installation process.

  1. During Boot-Up Press F2 to enter the BIOS.
  2. Navigate to the "Advanced" Tab.
  3. Change the AHCI Configuration setting to "Disabled".
  4. Press F10 and Save and Exit the BIOS.
  5. Re-Start your Windows XP Installation as normal.
S96S, S96Sp, Z37S, Z37E, S37S, S37E, and S62Ep

By default the BIOS on the S96S, Z37S, Z37E, S37S, & S37E notebook models have the Configure SATA as set to "AHCI". This needs to be set to "IDE" in order to have the hard drive detected during the Windows XP installation process.

  1. During Boot-Up Press F2 to enter the BIOS.
  2. Navigate to the "Advanced" tab and choose "Onboard Devices Configuration"
  3. Change Configure SATA as "IDE"
  4. Press F10 and Save and Exit the BIOS.
  5. Re-Start your Windows XP Installation as normal.
